Creating a Team

The team is the top-level configuration concept in Advanced Server Access. Each team has an Identity Provider (IdPAn acronym for Identity Provider. It is a service that manages end user accounts analogous to user directories such as LDAP and Active Directory, and can send SAML responses to SPs to authenticate end users. Within this scenario, the IdP is Okta.) configuration, which allows usersIn Okta literature, we generally refer to "users" as the people who serve as Okta administrators. When we refer to "end users" we are generally referring to the people who the administrators serve. That is, those who use Okta chiclets to access their apps, but have no administrative control. who can authenticate via that IdP to log into Advanced Server Access.

When you create a team, by default you are given "Team Administrator" permissions.

Additional team members will have only certain read-only permissions, because by default new users are only added to the everyone group. Additional permissions, such as server access, must be granted by you or another team administrator.

You can add an additional user to the owners group in Advanced Server Access to grant them administrative privileges in the Advanced Server Access dashboard.

Choose a Team Name

Your team name must be unique to you (and cannot contain spaces). All resources you create and manage with Advanced Server Access will be scoped to your team.

Choose an Identity Provider

You will be asked to select and configure an Identity Provider for your team, so Advanced Server Access knows how to authenticate your users.
