Sign in with Okta Verify on Apple Watch
With Okta Verify for Apple Watch, you can view, approve or reject sign-in notifications from your watch screen. You can also use your watch to find the authentication code generated by Okta Verify during your sign-in attempt.
After you pair your watch with an iPhone, the Okta Verify app installs automatically. Based on Apple design, you can open and use the app at any time, but the watch doesn't show notifications while the iPhone is unlocked.
Authenticate with a code
When you sign in to an app or to your apps dashboard and choose to confirm your identity with a code, you can use Okta Verify on your Apple Watch to get the authentication code. After you enter the Okta Verify-generated number in your sign-in window, you gain access to the Okta-protected app account.
Authenticate with a push notification
If you choose to confirm your identity with a push notification, approve the notification on your watch if your iPhone is locked. After you approve the notification, you gain access to the Okta-protected app account.
If you use iOS 15, and you sign in with a push notification while Okta Verify is open on your Apple Watch, the notification pops up on the screen instead of appearing in the app.
If Okta detects an unusual sign-in attempt, Okta Verify prompts you to review the sign-in details. Okta considers a sign-in attempt to be unusual based on various reasons, including details about your device and location. Tap Review.
-
If the details match your device and current location, tap Yes, It’s Me or tap the number that matches what you see on the sign-in page.
-
If you don’t recognize the device or location, tap No, it’s not me or Cancel the sign-in attempt. This action cancels the authentication attempt and prevents access to the Okta-protected account.
Authenticate with a push notification and a number
You can also review and approve or reject a number matching request from your watch. Tap the number that matches your sign-in page. It might take a few seconds for your selection to be processed.
