Enable AI agent imports for an app

Enable imports for an AI agent provider app so you can import AI agents into Okta. If you delete an app that's configured for AI agent imports from your org, any AI agents that you've imported from the app are also deleted. If you deactivate the app instance or disable its import functionality, the imported AI agents aren't impacted, but you can't run more imports.

You can assign individual users or groups as the default owners. The owners are responsible for the governance and lifecycle management of the app's imported AI agents. After you've imported an AI agent, you can manually update its ownership.

See Apps that support AI agent imports for a list of provider apps that you can configure for AI agent imports. You can also view this list by selecting the AI Agent Imports filter in the App Integration Catalog.

Before you begin

Enable AI agent imports

  1. In the Admin Console, go to Directory > AI Agent Providers.
  2. Search for and select an AI agent provider app. If your org has multiple instances of an AI agent provider app, Okta recommends that you only configure AI agent imports for one of them.
  3. Go to the AI Agent Import tab.
  4. Select the Enable AI agent imports checkbox.
  5. Enter your authentication credentials and other required information for the provider app.
  6. Click Test API Credentials. A message appears indicating that your credentials are confirmed.
  7. Click Save configuration.

Assign owners (optional)

In the Assign AI agent owners section, select an option:
  • Assign individual owners: Add between two and five owners to the Individual owners field.
  • Assign a group owner: Select a group from the Select group owner menu. Ensure that there are at least two users in the group.
  • Do not pre-assign an owner: No default owner is assigned to the imported AI agents.

Set the import schedule (optional)

  1. Select a Full import schedule option:
    • Do not schedule imports (not recommended): AI agents are only added when an admin runs an import.
    • Weekly: Select the days and time when imports should run.
    • Hourly: Enter the import interval in hours.
  2. Click Save configuration.

Third-party integrations are subject to external updates. Make sure you periodically review your configurations to ensure that they remain compatible with any changes made by the provider.

Set AI agent creation and matching criteria (optional)

Define the criteria that Okta uses to uniquely identify AI agents. Select External ID matches to identify AI agents by their unique builder platform ID, or select one of the following options from the dropdown list:
  • External ID and Name
  • External ID and Platform
  • External ID, Name, and Platform
The external ID must be unique per AI agent. If you select a combination of attributes and then import an AI agent with a matching external ID and a different name or platform, the import is considered a partial match.

Select import preview settings (optional)

Select a preview settings:
  • No preview (register all AI agents after import): All AI agents are automatically registered in Okta. If an AI agent is a duplicate based on the matching criteria, the duplicate is added.
  • Preview all AI agents prior to registration: The admin must preview all AI agents (unique and duplicate) before they're registered in Okta.
  • Preview only duplicate AI agents: The admin must preview duplicate AI agents before they're registered in Okta. Unique AI agents are automatically added to the AI agents page after the import.
