Auto-update a single agent on demand
View the status of agents for a Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) instance from its Agent Monitors page. When an agent is out of date, a warning icon () appears in the Version column for that agent. It's a best practice to keep your agents current to ensure that your org has the latest Okta features and functionality.
You can auto-update an individual agent from the Agents tab. When you start an agent auto-update, the agent is disconnected from Okta. You must have two operational agents installed on the directory instance that you are updating. This ensures that at least one agent is available to avoid service being disrupted for users while the other agent is updated. To be considered operational, the LDAP agent must have a stable connection to Okta servers (the agent sends requests to the Okta server at regular intervals). The agent must also have a valid configuration and be integrated with the on-premises LDAP server.
- In the Admin Console, go to .
- Click an LDAP instance.
- Click the Agents tab.
- Click Actions next to the agent that you want to update and then click Update agent. A warning dialog appears when the directory instance being updated doesn't have two or more operational agents installed. Click Got it to return to the previous page. No update request is sent for the agent.
When an update request is successful, the Agent monitors page appears. The agent that's being updated has a Status of Updating, and its Message is Agent is temporarily down.

Optional. Repeat the previous step from the Agents tab to update another agent.
