Edit a private app integration

Update the configuration of a private app integration built with the Okta Integration Wizard (OIW) and redeploy it to apply the changes to all app instances.

About this task

Change the capabilities or integration details of an app integration and redeploy it to make the changes available for use in the associated app instances. Changes don't affect existing app instances until you redeploy. When you redeploy, all app instances created from the integration are updated simultaneously.

Before you begin

Sign in to the Admin Console as an app admin
The app integration must be available in the Private apps section of the OIN catalog in your org.
Note your existing configuration before making changes.
Plan for user impact if your changes affect SSO behavior, SCIM provisioning, or entitlements. All active app instances associated with the app integration are updated when you redeploy.

In the Admin Console, go to Applications and Resources > Applications.
Use one of the following methods to navigate:
- App instance
  1. Find the app instance that's based on the app integration that you want to change.
  2. Select View app info from the options menu associated with the app instance.
- App catalog
  1. Click Browse app catalog.
  2. Filter by Private apps.
  3. Select the app integration you want to edit.
Click Edit integration.

Note:
Note the existing configuration before you make changes. Deploying your changes impacts all existing app instances that were created using the app integration. If you make changes but don't deploy, track when you make changes and when you deploy so you know which capabilities are available in the app instances.
Follow the prompts in the UI to make the required changes to the available settings:
Tip:
Note your app integration configuration and deployment dates somewhere. The OIW doesn't have a version history.
Click Review and Deploy.
Review the impacted instances and org details.
Click Deploy.

OIW updates the app integration and applies the new configuration to all app instances that were created from it.

Important:

If the updated configuration breaks SSO or provisioning, affected users lose access immediately. Fix the configuration and redeploy to restore access.
