Identity verification vendors as identity providers

You can configure an identity verification (IDV) vendor as an identity provider (IdP) in Okta. This enables you to request IDV to ensure that the right user is onboarding or recovering their account. IDV helps ensure that the person presenting the information is the rightful owner of that account.

IDV prevents malicious parties from circumnavigating multifactor authentication (MFA) methods. It can involve various methods, like device intelligence, knowledge-based authentication (KBA) questions, biometric verification, and multifactor authentication (MFA). The IDV vendor checks a user's government-issued identity document and conducts a liveness or biometrics check. This helps mitigate the risk of identity fraud.

You can use a pre-configured integration, or you can create your own custom integration with a vendor of your choice.
