Save flow data

If you enable the Save all data that passes through the Flow feature, Okta starts saving the flow data each time the flow executes. This data retention is useful when you need to check prior executions or to debug flow errors.

Okta retains data for each execution for 30 days. However, you can delete all data from the execution history at any time. See Clear all saved data.

Use caution when working with flows that contain sensitive data.

Saving data

For a newly created flow, in the Save flow dialog, enable the option to Save all data that passes through the flow.

For an existing flow, use the flow state button on the navigation bar to turn on the data saving feature:

  1. Click the flow state dropdown to open the flow options.

Image showing the save all data that passes through the flow option on the flow state dropdown.

  2. Set the Save all data that passes through the flow option to active.

The flow state button changes to display Saving data

To stop saving data for an existing flow, complete these steps:

  1. Click the flow state dropdown to open the flow options.

  2. Set the Save all data that passes through the flow option to inactive.

The flow state button changes to display Not saving data.

Clear saved data

You can delete all execution data collected for your flow. The Execution History page still displays the list of flow executions, showing the success or failure and the date and time of each execution. However, the data that passed through the flow is no longer available.

At the top right of the Execution History page is an action button to Clear data.

  1. Click Clear data.

  2. In the Clear all data dialog, choose one of the options:

    • Clear all data and stop saving data for this flow

    • Clear all data but save all future data for this flow

  3. Click Clear data to remove all saved data and confirm your choice for future data retention. Or, if you decide to keep the saved data for this flow, click Cancel.

After you click Clear Data, Okta deletes all execution data previously collected for the flow.
