Manage an Okta user account as a service account

Early Access release. To enable it, contact Okta Support.

Manage user accounts in Okta Universal Directory with Okta Privileged Access.

  1. In the Admin Console, go to DirectoryPeople.

  2. Create a user account, or select an existing user account that you want to manage with Okta Privileged Access.

  3. Click More Actions, and then select Manage with Privileged Access.

  4. Enter the following details:

    1. Account name

    2. Description (optional)

  5. Optional. Enter the following additional information:

    1. Click Owner groups, and then select a group. This group is a set of users who are owners of the service account.

    2. Click Owner users, and then select a user. This user is an owner of the service account.

    You can designate either an Okta user or group as the resource owner. This designation enhances visibility into who is responsible for managing the account within your org. It also clarifies the account's purpose within Okta and helps evaluate its ongoing necessity.

  6. Click Manage.

You can now manage your service account in Okta Privileged Access.
