Configure visibility for resource catalog entry points

Control which members of your org can view the resource catalog entry points. Entry points include the Request access buttons in the Okta End-User Dashboard and the Access Requests web app, and resource catalog links in Slack and Microsoft Teams.

By default, Okta allows every user in your org to view the resource catalog entry points as soon as you have at least one active access request condition or request type. In the Okta End-User Dashboard, the entry point is the Request access button. The visibility of this button is org-wide and isn't user-specific, so a user who isn't eligible to request anything still sees the button, but clicking it opens an empty resource catalog.

You can configure the visibility of resource catalog entry points:

  • The Request access button on the End-User Dashboard.
  • The resource catalog link in the Access Requests web app, if the Unified requester experience feature is enabled.
  • The resource catalog links in Slack and Microsoft Teams, if the Unified requester experience feature is enabled.

Before you begin

  • Sign in to the Admin Console as a super admin or a user with the access requests admin role.

Procedure

  1. In the Admin Console, go to Identity Governance > Access Requests.
  2. Click the Settings tab.
  3. In the Request access buttons section, select one of the following options:
    • Show to all users: All resource catalog entry points are available to every user in your org. This includes the Request access button in the Okta End-User Dashboard. If the Unified requester experience feature is enabled, this includes the Request access button inthe Access Requests web app and the resource catalog links in Slack and Microsoft Teams. This is the default setting.
    • Show to specific groups only: Select up to 10 groups that can see and use the Request access button in the Okta End-User Dashboard. This button isn't visible to any other users. You can't select the Everyone or Okta Administrators groups.
    • Hidden from all users: The Request access button and resource catalog links are hidden from all users.

Changes take effect the next time a user loads their End-User Dashboard, the Access Requests web app, Slack, or Microsoft Teams.
