Integrate PagerDuty with Okta

PagerDuty doesn't support User's Schema Discovery.

  1. Generate a PagerDuty API key. See PagerDuty's documentation for details.
  2. If you've already added PagerDuty to Okta, go to step 3. Otherwise, add it by complete the following steps:
    1. In the Admin Console, go to ApplicationsApplications.

    2. Click Browse App Catalog.
    3. Search for and select PagerDuty, and then click Add Integration.
    4. Complete the fields on the General Settings page and then click Next.
    5. In the Sign on methods section of the Sign-On Options page, select a sign-on option. If you select SAML 2.0, click View Setup Instructions and follow the instructions.
    6. Click Done.
  3. In the Admin Console, go to ApplicationsApplications.

  4. Select the PagerDuty app integration from the list.
  5. Select the Provisioning tab, click Configure API Integration, and then select Enable API integration.
  6. Enter your API key and admin username, and then click Save.
  7. Select To App under Settings.
  8. Click Edit and select the provisioning features that you want to enable.
  9. Click Save.
  10. Configure your mappings. In particular, provide a mapping for the User Role (role) attribute.

Roles are mapped from Okta to PagerDuty as follows:

    • admin maps to Global Admin
    • user maps to Manager
    • limited_user maps to Responder
    • observer maps to Observer
    • read_only_user maps to Stakeholder
    • read_only_limited_user maps to Limited Stakeholder
    • restricted_access maps to Restricted Access
    • team_responder is deprecated; automatically mapped to Observer

  11. Optional. Assign users to the app. See Assign applications to users.
