Manage a SaaS app service account

Early Access release. To enable it, contact Okta Support.

Manage access to service accounts for all your SaaS apps in Okta using Okta Privileged Access.

  1. In the Admin Console, go to Directory Service Accounts.
  2. Click Create account.
  3. Click the dropdown list, and then choose an app instance that the account is associated with.
  4. Enter the following details:
    1. Account name
    2. Description (optional)
    3. Username
    4. Password

      If the username and password aren't actively managed, they must match those of the shared account in the SaaS app.

  5. Optional. Enter the following additional information:
    1. Click Owner groups, and then select a group. This group is a set of users who are owners of the service account.
    2. Click Owner users, and then select a user. This user is an owner of the service account.

    You can designate either an Okta user or group as the resource owner. This designation enhances visibility into who is responsible for managing the account within your org. It also clarifies the account's purpose within Okta and helps evaluate its ongoing necessity.

  6. Click Create.

You can now manage your service account in Okta Privileged Access.
