Assign Box to Okta groups and configure group push

Use Group Push to use Active Directory (AD) or Okta to manage Box groups and group membership. Group Push lets you push Okta groups to existing groups in Box, even if the Okta and Box groups have the same name.

Suppose you have a Box instance with existing groups and you want to manage groups or group memberships in Okta. You can migrate the Box groups to Okta, and then link the Okta groups to the Box groups. This makes Okta the profile source for Box groups.

  1. In the Admin Console, go to ApplicationsApplications.

  2. Enter Box in the search field.
  3. Click the link for the Box app instance that you want to modify.

  4. Click the Assignments tab, and then click AssignAssign to Groups.
  5. Click Assign to assign the group to Box.
  6. Optional. Repeat the previous step as required to assign more groups to Box.
  7. Click Done.
  8. On the Push Groups tab, select By name or By rule under Pushed Groups.
  9. Enter the group name in Enter a group to push and then click Save.

Assigning admin to the Role attribute causes profile updates and assignments to fail. Ensure that only valid values (for example, user or coadmin) are assigned to the Role attribute.
