Incremental Imports


Incremental imports improve performance by only importing users that were created, updated, or deleted since your last import.

Incremental imports for Workday is currently an Early AccessEarly Access (EA) features are opt-in features that you can try out in your org by asking Okta Support to enable them. Additionally, the Features page in the Okta Admin Console (Settings > Features) allows Super Admins to enable and disable some EA features themselves. feature. Contact Okta Support to enable it.


In order to set up Workday for incremental imports, you need to:


  1. Perform a regular import as follows:

  2. Now any scheduled imports will be incremental by default, to setup scheduled imports follow the instructions below:

  3. Select the Provisioning tab for the Workday app.

  4. Select To Okta in the left pane under SETTINGS.

  5. In the General section, use the Schedule Import drop-down menu to set the schedule for the frequency at which you would like further imports to run. This causes the subsequent scheduled import to be an incremental import that will only pick up changes since the previous workday import.


Important things to note while using incremental imports:

  • The pre-start interval is applied to the time since the last download.

    For example if today is 10th January, with the pre-start interval set to 10 days. If the last scheduled incremental import took place, on the 7th of January. The pre-start interval is applied to query workday 10 days from the 7th of January, i.e the 17th of January.

    However, clicking the Import Now option on the January 10th creates a new baseline for the incremental imports and the pre-start interval will apply to query as of 10 days from the current day, i.e 20th January.

  • Same day deactivations be entered into Workday before the next incremental import is scheduled to run.
