Auto-update multiple agents on demand
View the status of agents for an Active Directory (AD) instance from its Agent Monitors page. When a new Okta agent is available and an existing agent is out of date, a warning icon () appears in the Version column for that agent. It's a best practice to keep your agents current to ensure that your org has the latest Okta features and functionality.
When you start an agent auto-update, the agent is disconnected from Okta. You must have two operational agents installed on the directory instance that you are updating. This ensures that at least one agent is available to avoid service being disrupted for users while the other agent is updated.
- In the Admin Console, go to .
- Click an AD instance.
- Click the Agents tab.
- Click Update agents > Select agents to update.
- Select the agents that you want to update.
- Optional. Agents are updated sequentially in the order that they're listed. Change the order in which to perform the agent updates by using the up and down arrows in the Order column.
- Click Update agents. A warning dialog appears when the directory instance you are updating doesn't have two or more operational agents installed. Two operational agents are recommended to avoid service disruptions for your users. Click Got it to return to the previous page.
When an update request is successful, the Agent monitors page appears. The agent that's being updated has a Status of Updating, and its Message is Agent is temporarily down.
- Optional. Click X to close the status dialog.
