Okta On-Prem Connector can be installed on various supported operating systems, if the systems meet the minimum hardware and software requirements.

Supported operating systems

Okta On-prem Connector is compatible with the following operating systems.

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.5 and above
  • SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 SP2 and above
  • Any other Linux distribution that supports the Java 8 Runtime Environment
Linux (64-bit)
  • Any Linux distribution that supports the Java 8 or Java 11 Runtime Environments

Minimum hardware requirements

Okta On-prem Connector requires the following hardware specifications as a minimum:

  • Processor: 1.8 GHz or higher Pentium 4 (or equivalent)
  • Memory: 2 GB RAM
  • Storage: 50 MB for runtime and configuration, plus 10 GB for data archiving

Minimum software requirements

The software requirements for Okta On-prem Connector can be split into separate Java and Java Runtime Environment requirements.

Java

Requires Java 8 or 11. Java 11.0.24.8.1 or above is recommended.

Java Runtime Environment

For Java 8, Oracle Java and Amazon Corretto OpenJDK are supported. The installer automatically downloads a private copy of the Java 8 JDK.

For Java 11, only Amazon Corretto OpenJDK is supported. When you install a new runtime container and download the JDK, it automatically includes the Java 11 runtime.
