When you upgrade using app branding migration, Okta clones your Classic Engine brands into Identity Engine brands. Review and configure these brands to ensure that they look and behave as you expect.
About this task
Each brand gets a clone, and if your org has multiple Classic Engine brands, each of these brands needs review and configuration.
Procedure
-
In the Admin Console, go to and view the original Classic Engine brands, each with a cloned Identity Engine brand.
Tip: To distinguish between the two, Okta indicates Classic Engine brands with a Classic label.
Configure Classic Engine brands-
Select a Classic Engine brand.
-
Select the Pages tab and click Configure in the Sign-in page section. You can edit the Classic Engine sign-in page, but you can’t preview it in the Admin Console. However, you can preview your sign-in page for Classic Engine as an HTML file in a browser window.
Important: You can no longer maintain the Classic Engine appearance for your Okta End-User Dashboard or error pages. These brand settings are now managed on the cloned Identity Engine brand. Only your sign-in page and email templates continue to use the Classic Engine brand settings.
-
On the sign-in page, select the Settings tab and review the Sign-In Widget version. If you need to maintain your customizations made on Classic Engine, you can pin a specific Sign-In Widget version. See Customize your sign-in page.
-
Back to the Classic Engine brand page, select the Domains tab. You can re-assign a custom domain, but only to another Classic Engine brand. See Configure a custom domain.
Configure Identity Engine brands-
Select a cloned Identity Engine brand.
-
Select the Pages tab and click Configure in the Sign-in page section. This HTML page is an exact copy of the corresponding Classic Engine page and it may not work in Identity Engine.
Remember: It’s your responsibility to update and preview the design of the sign-in page until you’re satisfied and ready to publish it. After it’s published, your end users are sent to this sign-in page. The
Classic Engine sign-in page is no longer operational. See
Customize your sign-in page.
-
On the sign-in page, select the Settings tab and review the Sign-In-Widget version. As part of the upgrade, the cloned Identity Engine brand is updated to the most recent Sign-In-Widget version.
-
On the Pages tab, you can also verify the Okta End-User Dashboard and the error pages and configure them, if necessary.
-
Select the Domains tab. You can re-assign a custom domain, but only to another Identity Engine brand. See Configure a custom domain.
-
Complete the previous steps for all your current Classic Engine brands and the corresponding cloned Identity Engine brands.
