Linear supported features

The following features and functionality are available with a Linear integration.

Feature Description
Push new users
  • Users created in Okta are sent an email invitation to join the Linear workspace.

  • The required attribute for account creation is the user's email address.
  • Assignments are only tracked for users who have accepted their invitation and joined Linear. When users are imported, assignments associated with pending invites are automatically cleared.
  • You can map users to specific workspace roles: Owner, Admin, Member, or Guest. If no role is mapped during creation, the Member role is assigned by default.
  • If a user is assigned the Guest role, they must be provisioned into at least one team during creation.
Push profile updates
  • Updates to the Okta user profile are pushed to Linear.
  • You can update the First Name and Last Name fields. You can't update the Email or Username fields.
Push user deactivation Deactivating a user or removing their access to the app in Okta suspends the user in Linear. Suspension immediately revokes workspace access and invalidates all active sessions. The user account isn't deleted.
Import new users Users created in the Linear UI are imported into Okta during scheduled or manual sync intervals.
Push groups
  • You can push groups and their members to integrated apps. See Manage Group Push.
  • Okta groups and their recursive memberships are pushed to Linear as managed User Groups.
Entitlement Management
  • You can manage app entitlements for Linear in Okta.
  • If the app supports Okta Identity Governance, then you need to enable it to manage entitlements.
  • You can map users to specific Linear workspace roles (Owner, Admin, Member, or Guest) using a single-select field.
  • You can't change team memberships by updating a user profile. Manage team assignments only through entitlement assignments or group provisioning.
  • Team assignments can only be set when you create a user. You can't add or modify team assignments later, even if you unassign and reassign the user.
