Self-service registration

Learn how the self-service registration process changes after the upgrade.

Change summary This process is now a part of the Profile Enrollment feature. You can create a profile enrollment policy for self-service registration or progressive enrollment of users.
Admin experience To create a profile enrollment policy for an application, go to SecurityProfile Enrollment.

If you enabled the Self-Service Registration feature in Classic Engine, the Self-service registration option is allowed by default and the Progressive Profiling option is disabled.

  • The profile enrollment policy form only supports read-write attributes. If you added read-only or hidden attributes to your Self-Service Registration form in Classic Engine, they're not migrated to your profile enrollment policy.

  • You can still add read-only attributes to the Universal Directory through the Profile Editor.

  • The default redirect option isn't available in Identity Engine. Users return to the app.

  • After you create a policy, you can assign one or more applications to it.

If you didn't enable the Self-Service Registration feature in Classic Engine, both the Self-service registration and Progressive Profiling options are denied by default.

User experience Changes to the user experience depend on how you configure your enrollment fields in the policy.

You can set other options for the enrollment process:

  • Prompt for a password on the first page of the Sign-In Widget (the default is to prompt on the second page)

  • Send an email to the user to verify their account

  • Add new users to existing groups

  • Set an inline hook as part of the registration flow

  • Customize the header and button text in the enrollment form
