Configure custom remediation instructions for device assurance

You can configure custom remediation messages for users who don't pass device assurance compliance checks performed by Okta Verify or Chrome Device Trust. By customizing remediation instructions, you ensure that users in your org can troubleshoot device posture problems and gain access to their apps without contacting their IT department.

To enable this feature, turn on Custom remediation for Device Assurance.

To turn off this feature, first remove any custom user remediation settings from your posture checks.

View posture checks

  1. In the Admin Console, go to SecurityPosture checks.

  2. View the device posture checks or search for specific items. You can filter the table by platform (Android, ChromeOS, iOS, macOS, Windows).

Configure remediation instructions

  1. In the Admin Console, go to SecurityPosture checks.

  2. Click the action menu next to the posture check you focus on.
  3. Select Remediation instructions.
  4. Under User remediation, configure the instructions users receive in the Sign-In Widget if the posture check fails.
    • Default: The user receives the default Okta message. Preview the message in the Users will see window.
    • Custom: Type a remediation message in the Users will see window.
    • None: Users don't receive remediation instructions.
  5. Configure the Remediation link target.
    • Link to Okta documentation: Choose this option if you want to provide users with Okta help documentation.
    • Link to a custom page: Choose this option if you want to provide users with your own custom help documentation. If you select this option, enter the URL for your documentation in the Custom page URL field.
  6. Click Save posture check.
