Authorization
When you add a Tableau Cloud card to a flow for the first time, Okta Workflows prompts you to configure the connection. This creates a connection to your Tableau Cloud account, and also saves your account information so you can reuse the connection for any new flows that include Tableau Cloud.
A recommended best practice is to create a specific service account with super admin credentials for Okta Workflows. Then use that account to authorize the connection. Otherwise, the Okta user account that you use to set up the connection is associated with any actions performed by Okta Workflows.
Before you begin
-
You must have super admin privileges in Okta.
In addition to the initial authorization of the connector, reauthenticating this connection requires an account with super admin privileges.
-
The Tableau Cloud account must have either the Site Administrator Explorer or Site Administrator Creator role on the current Tableau Cloud site.
-
Create a connected app with direct trust through the Tableau Cloud Dashboard. Use the steps on the Configure Connected Apps with Direct Trust documentation topic to Create a connected app and Generate a secret.
Create a connection in Okta Workflows
After you have created and configured your connected Tableau Cloud app, you can create the connection from within Okta Workflows.
-
Open the Workflows Console, and click the Connections tab.
-
Click New Connection to see a list of all available connectors.
-
Select the Tableau Cloud connector.
-
In the New Connection window, enter a Connection Nickname. This is the display name that appears in your connections list.
-
Enter the Site URL value copied from the Tableau Cloud site browser. For example, https://10ax.online.tableau.com/#/site/workflows.
-
Enter the Client ID, Secret ID, and Secret Value values that you copied from the Tableau connected app.
-
Click Create.
You can now select the configured Tableau Cloud connection whenever you add an action card to your flow.
