Configure general customization settings
Customization settings shape the end -user experience. These settings include basic account management, language settings, sign-in and error pages, and app redirects.
About admin roles for these tasks
You must be a super admin or an org admin, or have a role with customizations permissions. In the Admin Console, go to .
If you've enabled multibrand customization, the navigation is different for some tasks, as indicated in the table.
Task |
Description |
---|---|
Customize personal information and password management |
If you provide external applications where users manage their personal information and passwords, you can add redirect links in this section. |
Configure optional user account fields | End users can enter a secondary address for password reset and account creation notices. Security images appear whenever a user enters a valid username in the Okta sign-in page. |
Configure Okta user communication | Edit this section if you don't want to receive Okta communication requesting user experience feedback. Select Opt out of Okta User Communication for this Org. |
Enable a deprovisioning workflow | Edit this section if you want to enable the Deprovisioning Task Manager. This task manager tracks all apps that must be manually deprovisioned and lists them on your Admin Dashboard. |
Enable Just In Time Provisioning | Edit this section if you want to enable JIT provisioning at the org level for all SAML apps, all AD instances (when Delegated Authentication is selected), and all Desktop Single Sign On configurations. |
Configure the Okta Browser Plugin settings | Manage Okta Browser Plugin installations, upgrades, and some browser behaviors. |
Enable IFrame embedding | Edit this section and select the checkbox if your org plans to embed Okta in an iFrame. |
Configure reauthentication settings | By default, end users' authentication expires five minutes after they edit their profile information, change their passwords, or update MFA. Edit this section if you want to change the setting to 15 minutes. |
Configure display language |
Edit this section and use the Language dropdown box to specify a display language for your org. End users' personal language settings override the org-wide display language. See Org display language. If you've enabled multibrand customization, this configuration has moved:
|
Customize labels on your sign-in page |
Customize the text of the heading, field labels, and help links on the Sign-In Widget. |
Customize a sign-out page |
Redirect users to a custom page when they sign out of Okta. |
Disable the Okta loading page |
Edit this section if you want to disable the default Okta loading animation that appears when users are redirected to custom applications. If you've enabled multibrand customization, this configuration has moved:
|
Configure a custom application error page | If end users try to access an app that hasn’t been assigned to them, redirect them to the default Okta URL or to a custom URL that you provide. |
Configure a default app for the Sign-In Widget | Redirect users to a custom page when they visit your URL and the target app is unknown. |
Recently used applications | Allow users to choose whether or not the Okta End-User Dashboard displays their recently used apps in a separate section. |
Control access to the Okta End-User Dashboard | Configure access and migration for your users to the Okta End-User Dashboard. New organizations use the latest dashboard by default. |
Display Options | Edit this section to change your org's URL logo, configure the Okta Home footer, or configure the Onboarding screen. Disabling the Okta Home footer removes the help and request app buttons at the bottom of the Okta End-User Dashboard. Disabling the Okta Onboarding Screen removes the Getting started with the Okta Browser Plugin banner that users see after installing the plugin and the Welcome to your Okta Dashboard walkthrough. |
