Switch between accounts with Okta Browser Plugin
Use the Account Chooser in the Okta Browser Plugin to switch between multiple Okta accounts. When you access an account through the Okta Browser Plugin for the first time, you are prompted to trust or reject the browser. Over time, you can build a list of Okta accounts through the plugin to easily access your apps.
Before you begin
Ensure that Okta Browser Plugin is installed. If you can't find the Okta Browser Plugin icon in the toolbar, it may be hidden. To display the plugin, complete these steps:
- Chrome: Click the Chrome menu ( ) and navigate to Okta Browser Plugin is enabled. Once you have confirmed that the plugin is enabled, click the puzzle icon in the upper right portion of your browser and select the pin icon next to the Okta Browser Plugin. to verify that the
- Firefox: Click the Firefox menu ( ), click Customize, and drag the blue Okta Browser Plugin icon to the desired location on the browser toolbar.
- Internet Explorer: From the Tools menu ( ), go to Enable. , and click
- Safari: Right-click anywhere on the browser toolbar, click Customize Toolbar, and then drag the Your Apps icon to the desired location on the browser toolbar.

Trust an Okta account and add it to the account chooser
- While already signed in to Okta, sign in to another Okta account that you have not trusted or accessed yet on this browser.
On the Okta End-User Dashboard, a banner prompts you to specify whether you trust the account. Some apps on the dashboard are accessible only after you trust the account.
- Click the blue Okta Browser Plugin icon in the browser toolbar.
- If the Trust / Reject options appear in the Your Apps menu, choose what applies in your case:
- If you click Trust, the red banner disappears, the remainder of the apps on your dashboard become accessible, and the account is added to your account chooser list.
- Click Reject if you don't trust the account or if you don't want the plugin to take any action on the account. If you decide later that you trust the account, you can display the Trust option by refreshing the page, or signing in to the account again.
Note: For Chrome, Edge, and Firefox browsers, a red square on top of the blue Okta Browser Plugin icon indicates that a Trust or Reject action is needed.
Show the account chooser and switch accounts
This task is optional. From the account chooser you can easily switch between multiple accounts added to the Okta Browser Plugin.
- Click the blue Okta Browser Plugin icon in the browser toolbar.
- Click the Account Chooser icon.
The active account has a blue ribbon on the side.
- Click the account in the list that you want to switch to.
- To remove an account from the list, click the icon.
