Import your existing Okta Verify account to an Android device using Bluetooth

If you already use Okta Verify and want to authenticate with the same account on another Android device, you can sync your devices using Bluetooth. This allows you to add your existing Okta Verify account directly to the other device without signing in to the Okta End-User Dashboard.

Before you begin

Start this task

  1. Start on the device where you already have an Okta Verify account. Open the Okta Verify app, and follow the steps for your original device type:

    Android

    1. Tap your account.

    2. On the Account details page, tap Export account and follow the instructions.

    3. To allow Okta Verify to export your account to the new device using a Bluetooth connection, tap Allow.

    iOS

    macOS

    Windows

    1. Tap or click your account.

    2. Tap or click Export account and follow the instructions.

    3. To allow Okta Verify to export your account to the new device using a Bluetooth connection, tap or click Allow.

Okta Verify generates both a QR code and an alphanumeric code with numbers and letters. If your new device can't scan a QR code, copy the alphanumeric code to use later.

  2. Install the Okta Verify app on your new Android device.

  3. On the new device, open the Okta Verify app. Tap Import account and follow the instructions.

  4. To allow Okta Verify to import your account from your original device using a Bluetooth connection, tap Allow.

  5. Set up the account. For this step, you need either the QR code or the alphanumeric code generated by Okta Verify on your original device.

    • Scan the QR code displayed on your original device. Tap Scan QR code, and then point your camera at the QR code displayed on the original device.

    • If your new device can't scan the QR code, tap Enter Code Manually. Enter the 8-character alphanumeric code from your original device.

If the account setup is successful, a 6-digit PIN appears.

  6. Confirm that you're pairing the right devices. Take the 6-digit PIN displayed in Okta Verify on the new device, and enter that into Okta Verify on your original device.

  7. Follow the instructions to complete the setup.

You can now sign in with Okta Verify on the new Android device.
