Jira Cloud (outbound integration)
Integrate Identity Security Posture Management (ISPM) with your Jira Cloud instance to create Jira issues automatically for security issues detected by ISPM. This helps streamline your remediation workflow.
The connection is established using OAuth 2.0. This means that after you integrate, Okta ISPM is authorized to perform actions in Jira on behalf of a specific Jira user.
Before you begin

Ensure that you have the unique URL of the Jira instance. For example, https://your-company.atlassian.net

Ensure that you have the credentials for a Jira user account that will be used to authorize the connection. Ideally, use a dedicated service account in Jira to help prevent the connection interruptions if an employee leaves the company or changes roles. This service account must have the necessary project permissions to create and modify issues in the target Jira project.
Start this task

In the ISPM console, go to
. -
Select Jira.

Enter the following parameters:

Integration name: Enter a name for this integration.

Instance URL: Paste your full Jira Cloud URL into the field. For example, https://your-company.atlassian.net

Click Continue to Jira authorization. You're automatically redirected from Okta to the Atlassian authorization page.

Authorize the Okta ISPM app in Jira:

Sign in to the Jira user account (ideally, a dedicated service account) that you plan to use to authorize the application.

Review permissions being granted to Okta ISPM to understand what actions ISPM will be able to perform using the Jira account.

Click Accept to approve the connection. You're redirected to the Okta ISPM console.

Click Continue to mapping.

Map the ISPM issues payload to Jira tickets:

In the Project field, select the relevant project for creating tickets.

In the Summary and Description fields, edit the content of each field to enter text. You can also include an ISPM issue field that's available in the ISPM console by copying it to the selected Jira field. This field name should be wrapped in curly brackets.

In the Issue Type field, choose the relevant issue type. The issue types available are based on the project that you chose earlier.

Optional. Add more fields by choosing them from the dropdown list and then clicking Add field.

Click Add mapping.

Click Add automation.

Select the issues for which ISPM should trigger alerts for you. You can modify the alerts and the issues at any time.

Click Add automation.
